Background
Nestlé invests 5 billion baht in new Nestlé PURINA PetCare factory in Rayong
Nestlé (Thai) Co. Ltd. today announced the opening of its new state-of-the-art Nestlé PURINA PetCare factory in the Amata Industrial Estate in Rayong province that will produce high-quality wet pet food for the local market as well as for export markets.
Global trends have shown that people have brought more pets into their families, and this has led to a sharp increase in consumer demand for premium pet food in Thailand and across the region. The new Nestlé PURINA PetCare factory addresses this opportunity by increasing Nestlé’s production capacity for nutritious, high-quality pet food.
Designed for efficient and sustainable operation, the new Rayong factory will increase Nestlé PURINA PetCare’s presence in the wet cat food single serve product segment, a priority category for the company. It makes products under the PURINA ONE®, PRO PLAN®, FELIX® and FANCY FEAST® brands for the Thai market and will export them to countries throughout the Asia, Oceania, and Africa (AOA) region. The new Nestlé PURINA PetCare factory will contribute to accelerating revenue and profit growth for Nestlé while strengthening Thailand’s position as an important production hub for high-quality pet food products.
“With the latest state-of-the-art equipment in the new 93,872 sq m Nestlé PURINA PetCare factory, we continue to strive towards our sustainability commitments for a healthier planet for pets and people, including making all of our packaging recyclable or reusable by 2025, the latest automation technologies to decarbonize our operations, and efficient energy savings. Advanced technology at the new Purina factory includes a fully automated system that features a high-speed filling line with products handled by robots, AGV (automated guided vehicle) material handling, and high-speed robot multi packers that can each finish more than 720 packs per minute.” he added.

MACSA ID Triumphs as the Labeling and Date Printing Choice for Nestlé’s New PURINA PetCare Factory
Why MACSA ID Emerged as the Winner
THE MOST VERSATILE LABELLING SYSTEM ON THE MARKET
Its modular design allows for a wide variety of standard models.
All idBlocks labelling machines are manufactured with top-quality materials. There is a powerful air ejection application system and as a result idBlocks systems can achieve prodcution speeds of over 200 labels per minute.
The idBlocks system is built with interchangeable modules that are easily added to a base board. This allows rapid replacement to adapt to changing labelling.
ADVANTAGES
Modular system: idBlocks is composed of removable modules which are easily attached to the machine, allowing a fast replacement with different modules.
Versatility: its modular design makes it possible to offer a wide range of standard models..
Reliability: its high-quality components and devices offer a great reliability and optimum performance.

Technological Edge - Spotlight on UV Laser Marking
In the realm of packaged goods applications, the prowess of UV laser marking, particularly the 5 watts SPA2 D diode-pumped solid-state lasers, has been widely recognized. Nestlé’s new PURINA PetCare factory, with its state-of-the-art setup, necessitates a technology that not only aligns with its high-speed production but also ensures precision and reliability in coding its products, which range from bottles and tubs to liquid dispensers.
Unparalleled Adaptability to Various Substrates
The SPA2 D lasers are not confined to a singular application but exhibit remarkable versatility by being applicable to a myriad of plastic substrates, excluding PET and PVC. The UV wavelength options embedded in the technology facilitate coding on challenging substrates, ensuring that the integrity of the material is maintained while the coding is impeccably executed.
Minimizing Thermal Impacts
One of the pivotal advantages of utilizing UV laser marking is the minimal thermal impacts on plastics during the marking process. This is especially crucial for maintaining the quality and structure of delicate substrates and is instrumental in laser coating ablation, ensuring that the marking does not compromise the substrate’s integrity or aesthetic appeal.
High-Speed, High-Quality Printing with DUO
The integration of DUO dual processor technology in the SPA2 D lasers is a game-changer in achieving high-speed and high-quality printing, even with variable data. This ensures that the coding process is not a bottleneck in the production line, maintaining a seamless flow in the factory’s operations.
User-Friendly Interface
The 10.1-inch touch screen controller, complemented with context-sensitive HELP and on-line instruction videos, ensures that the technology is not just advanced but also user-friendly. This facilitates ease of operation and minimizes the learning curve for the factory’s personnel, ensuring that they can leverage the technology effectively.
Ensuring Durability in Various Environments
The availability of a protection enclosure for the lasers, suitable for washdown (IP65) environments, underscores the technology’s durability and adaptability in various production settings. This ensures that the laser marking technology remains unscathed and fully functional even in environments that necessitate regular washdowns, safeguarding the investment in the technology.
